The City is seeking proposals from qualified offerors to provide management of the region's fixed route bus system service, and the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) required complimentary and comparable paratransit service.
The City's fixed route bus system has a current fleet of 241 vehicles (201 peak and 40 spare) and employs approximately 565 full-time and 35 part-time individuals and operates four types of fixed route services: 1) radial routes that service major trip generators; 2) connective routes that provide service to the radial routes; 3) feeder routes that augment radial and connective routes as well as serving transit centers and stations; and 4) express routes that serve major trip generators with higher average running speeds than other routes. The system provides fixed route public transit for the region and offers subscription service to major employers. By the close of fiscal year 2012 the system should have fully implemented a seamless regional fare system that includes the use of SmartCard technology for regional fare payment.
