The Ketchikan Gateway Borough (Borough) intends to enter into a contract with a firm to
implement a bus shelter design, prefabrication and installation project. This project is funded
with a combination of American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA), Alaska Department
of Transportation (DOT) 5311 and local grant monies.
The Borough will be using the Design-Build method of contracting for this project. The
proposed bus shelter project (project) aims to enhance the experience of those traveling
within the Borough by providing shelter from the weather, while also incorporating an
inspiring and authentic design element to the streetscape environment. The term contractor
(contractor) as used herein includes a firm or firms, partnerships, joint ventures and others
responding to this Request for Proposals (RFP). The contractor will be working closely with
the Borough Transit Department (Borough Transit) on all aspects of the project.
This project represents an investment of an estimated $230,000 in principal by the Federal
Transportation Authority and the Cruise Passenger Vessel Fund. Of course, the Borough's
goals include completion of the project within budget, on time, and without litigation or other
conflict.
