Town Website Redevelopment, Construction and Maintenance
The Town is seeking Expressions of Interest from qualified individuals or firms proven capable of
providing website design, development and construction management and services. In addition, the individual or firm would be capable of providing regular updates and ongoing site maintenance of http://banff.ca in its current and future configuration.
Initially, a selected proponent would work with and advise the Manager of Communications and Marketing in
the development of a project plan to redevelop and construct the Town’s website, a project expected to occur
in 2012. The plan would include identification of preferred platform and CMS, navigation, search engine
optimization, hosting requirements, and the integration of: social media, ecommerce compatible with the
town’s financial reporting software, GIS maps and reporting. It would also identify the financial and human
resources required to meet the Town’s goals for a redeveloped site.
The selected proponent would also be expected to manage and administer the current site as the town
transitions to a redeveloped site. This may include the management of immediate redesign of the current
home page on the existing platform, as well as content updates and technical assistance.
The proponent(s) shall:
1. Have proven experience and expertise in: HTML and XML programming, Java Script, Adobe CS3,
Photoshop, Acrobat, and Dreamweaver, and knowledge of Microsoft Office to work with existing site.
2. Knowledge of and experience in other languages such as PHP, MySQL, CodeIgniter/CakePHP, Ajax,
jQuery, Javascript, XHTML and CSS would be valuable. Other desirable skills include working
knowledge of SQL databases, Googlemini appliance, web security and IIS.
3. Demonstrate capability and evidence that the candidate has experience in providing website
programming and development services or other similar services.
4. Demonstrate experience with open source CMS.
5. Demonstrate creative initiatives to maximize website use.
6. Knowledge of Search Engine Optimization and Social Media Optimization. 7. Have a dedicated and secure workspace and be able to undertake its work on behalf of the Town of
Banff offsite.
8. The ideal candidate would be enthusiastically current with emerging web technologies.
