The County Courthouse is quickly reaching a critical juncture regarding courthouse communications infrastructure supporting the 23 departments and 300 employees working there. The large majority of the voice and data facility has been in place for 20+ years; and is rapidly approaching their end of life. Over the past two decades the Nortel infrastructure has grown to a total of six distinct telephone system; the newest being eight years old. The six systems provide; 301 voice connections, 372 data connections. The support complexity with having multiple systems (and the age of the systems) is creating a growing support issues across the environment. With the rapid change in technology and infrastructure capabilities there is a need to upgrade all the system into a single Avaya IP Based telephone system. In addition to the telephone system replacement, the current wiring infrastructure will need to be upgraded as well to Category 6 wiring standards. The current Nortel digital telephone handsets are to be reused to help manage the expense of the project. Unless the winning vendor elects to replace the digital phones with IP unit at their own expense.
