Telecom Strategic Plan - University of Alaska

The University of Alaska, Fairbanks (UAF) is in the planning phase of upgrading UAFs Telephone System.
Currently, our telephone equipment consists of a Nortel Telephone Switch (Option 81c) utilizing Meridian
Mail for voice mail. In addition to the main campus in Fairbanks, AK, there are several remote, community
campuses that connect to it (and which will need to be integrated into any planned upgrade), specifically:
Bethel, Dillingham, King Salmon, Kodiak, Kotzebue, and Nome. It has been proposed that we migrate to a
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Telephone System. We need a Technical Plan and a Business Plan to
enable us to prepare an Implementation Plan before we can proceed with this project.
