This is a request for proposals for targeted public relations services for Computers for Youth (CFY), a not-for-profit organization focused on helping low-income children do better in school by improving their learning environment at home.
Founded in 1999, CFY is the nation’s leader in improving the Home Learning Environment of low-income school children. CFY’s signature program, Take IT Home, helps educators build stronger school-home connections and provides families with the key ingredients required to improve their Home Learning Environment – a home computer loaded with selected educational software; online family learning services; information about affordable broadband options and hands-on training designed to help parents become more effective learning partners.
In 2010 CFY was awarded two substantial grants through the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP). The grants will allow CFY to provide computers, educational software, training, and access to broadband services to over 34,000 families in New York City and Los Angeles over the next two years. CFY is seeking the services of an experienced public relations firm to raise awareness of, and appreciation for, these specific initiatives in New York and Los Angeles.
