The Town has received funding to plan for, identify issues with, and provide architectural and engineering design services for construction of a streetscape, bicycle and pedestrian improvements.
The purpose of the streetscape study would support surface transportation by providing recommendations for infrastructure development to support pedestrians and bicyclists at a critical intersection and principal gateway to the Town. The study would provide recommendations for a safe arrangement of direct and convenient walkways, bike paths, transit stops and appropriate landscaping to service the business, resident and visitor population. The study would provide a plan and guide for the town to pursue its transportation goals to (1) encourage pedestrian and bicycle travel on a route that currently lacks in facilities to do so in a safe and welcoming manner and (2) incorporate public transit services (i.e. safe and manageable turn-offs) and (3) connect existing modes of transportation: "The Bus currently services this section of road with a bus equipped with a bike rack.
