The Bureau of General Services in the Department of Administrative and Financial Services, pursuant to Resolve Chapter 181, of the 123rd Maine State Legislature, is issuing this Request for Proposals to select a development company or team to renovate the properties commonly referred to as the Stone Buildings, located in Augusta, Maine, on the site formerly occupied by the Augusta Mental Health Institute.

The State is seeking proposals from private sector companies to redevelop these buildings for office space to be used by Executive Branch State agencies. The State is seeking creative financing solutions for this project because State funding would come from existing leased space operational costs. The buildings are listed in the National Register of Historic Places, which will enable prospective developers to utilize State and Federal Historic Preservation Tax Incentives for rehabilitations that are approved by the National Park Service through a formal application process.

A copy of the full Request for Proposal is available on the Bureau's website at:http:gwww.maine.gov/bgs

To participate, a vendor must register by emailing a request to [email protected] by 2 P.M. Thursday, May 3, 2012. Site Visits will be scheduled only with registered vendors. Questions and answers will be emailed to registered vendors only.

All bids must be delivered and received by 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 6, 2012, the time of bid opening, to:
