Statewide Student ID System
This RFP solicits the development and implementation of extended services and componentsfor the Utah Public Education StatewideStudent ID system, or SSID. These extensionsmustwork within the School Interoperability Framework (SIF) architecture of the Utah eTranscript and Record Exchange (UTREx). UTREx is currentlyunder development and is scheduledfor completionfor the 2010-2011 school year. In the UTREx system,whenaLocal Education Agency (LEA) enrolls a student,requests a student's records or sends a students data to another entity within the system,the student must have astatewide student identifier(SSID). Within the current SSID system, finding or creating and then assigningan SSIDto a studentis acombination ofbatch and manual processes. The extension of the SSID systemto make these processes more automated will ease the burden on local staff while providing more accurate and timely student data for all. Throughout this document, these collective services and components needed to extend the SSID system in such a manner willbe referred to as simply the Extension.
