Solid Waste Pickup and Disposal
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Forest Service (FS), Intermountain Region, The Forest Service proposes to contract for technical forestry services to provide two 40 cubic yard solid waste bins, or bins of their equivalent yardage, not to exceed 3, in two different locations in the Fish Lake Basin. This service is to include loading, hauling, and disposing of garbage in an approved landfill. The garbage is generated in the Fish Lake Basin from Forest Service campgrounds and summer homes.
The contractor is to furnish all Labor, equipment, supplies, and supervision necessary for removing the garbage collected in the dumpsters at specified locations in the Fish Lake Basin. All dumpsters will be emptied, no matter how full they are, as amounts of garbage and how it is dumped will vary. An empty dumpster will be placed at the site before removal of the full dumpster to ensure continuation of trash services. Normal operations will require that the garbage be removed according to the schedule on the previous pages, and comply with the following information.
All on call and additional garbage pickups may be required as dumpsters become filled during busier periods. The Contractor shall make these additional pickups within 24 hours of verbal notification of the need for additional services. The Contractor will police the area for any liter remaining near the Dumpster after the transfer of garbage and remove the litter within a 20 foot radius of the dumpster.
The Contractor will dispose of all waste in a Utah State approved landfill and will dump waste in accordance with the requirements of the landfill location. All loads being transported must comply with Utah Transportation Code. Trash bins will be located at Doctor Creek Trailer Dump Station and at the existing site along Highway 25 between Mackinaw and Bowery Creek Campgrounds. During winter months the bin placed along Highway 25 will need to be moved to Twin Creek Picnic Site approximately 0.5 miles to the south.
Dumpster #1 is located at Dr. Creek Dump Station on the south end of Fish Lake, off SR 25, just south of Mile Marker 7.
Dumpster #2 is located between Mackinaw Campground and Bowery Creek Campground, off SR 25, just north of Mile Marker 9. During winter months dumpster two is moved the west corner of Twin Creeks Recreation site located just south of Mile Marker 9 on SR 25. Scheduled dumpster removal may take place anytime during the scheduled day. On call dumpster removal will occur within 24 of notice.
