Seeking proposals from untenured, junior faculty for social science research on issues salient to low-income populations in the United States. Topics of particular interest include, but are not limited to, persistent poverty, labor-market outcomes, human capital accumulation, transfer-program participation, child and family well being, the economic status of disadvantaged and underrepresented populations, and the impact of the current recession on
the poor and effects of various stimulus package measures on this population. A preference will be given to proposals that address poverty in the American South (though research proposals are not limited to examinations of this 16-state region) and to those based on secondary data analysis.
