Shell Marine Habitat Program - Conservation and Restoration RFP
Funds will be awarded to catalyze conservation and restoration projects that benefit marine and coastal habitats in and around the Gulf of Mexico. NOAA funds will be provided to those projects that specifically benefit habitat for living marine resources.
The Shell Marine Habitat Program (SMHP) is a partnership between Shell Oil Company, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF).
Preference will be given to projects that include: 1) measurable conservation outcomes linked to project activities (i.e. restore 100 acres of salt marsh); 2) specific provisions for long-term maintenance, management and protection, as appropriate; 3) activities consistent with the goals of established state, regional, and/or federal resource conservation plans; and 4) education, training, and public outreach components to enhance the community benefits of the project.
