Seattle Foundation Accepting Social Network Project Proposals for Building Resilience Fund
The Building Resilience Fund, an alliance of Puget Sound philanthropic organizations seeking to help local people who have been hardest hit by the current recession, has released a Request for Proposals for social network projects. Administered by the Seattle Foundation, the Building Resilience Fund identifies and supports effective and highly leveraged strategies that help people avert crisis and quickly get back on the road to financial independence.
The Building Resilience Fund is accepting applications for grants ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 to start or continue social networks that help people support each other in coping with the difficult effects of the economic downturn. A social network is a group of people connected by social relationships such as friendship, work, or exchange of information or mutual support. The funding is one time only for up to a one-year period. Funds can be used for any expense related to the proposed social network activities.
Eligible applicants include, but are not limited to, informal or formal community or neighborhood associations, community-led nonprofit organizations, faith-based groups providing a service outside their congregations, or ethnic, youth, or senior groups. Collaborations between two or more groups are welcome. Preference will be given to applicants who are serving people with low incomes, people who are isolated and not connected to other groups or resources, or people who are traditionally underserved.
Applicant organizations must be located in King County, Washington, and must have 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status or be sponsored by a tax-exempt nonprofit organization.
The Building Resilience Fund RFP is available at the Seattle Foundation Web site.
