This specification covers sand supplied for snow and ice control. This sand shall consist of clean, hard, durable, uncoated
particles of quartz or other rock, free from lumps of clay, soft or flaky material, loam or other detrimental material.
The sand provided shall mix properly and uniformly with salt and flow well as it comes through the spreader. .
The same shall contain not more than five percent (5%) of material finer than #200 sieve using AASHTO Method Tll.
