School District Early Childhood Center construction

The School District will be seeking authorization to construct an Early Childhood Center from funds associated with a future bond referendum. Preliminary efforts to site the project suggest that the facility can be, and is intended to be, constructed on the District Office Campus located generally in the northwest quadrant of 151st Street and Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park, Kansas. Creativity and innovation will be instrumental to producing a facility design that compliments the latest trends and thinking related to early childhood education. While the design team will not be required to seek official LEED certification for the facility, the design team will be required to demonstrate to the Owner that their efforts were sufficient to attain a minimum LEED Silver certification.
Blue Valley has determined that a 70,000-90,000 square foot early childhood center will be needed for occupancy in Spring 2014 and believes it is imperative to move forward with a design/construction process to meet this schedule.
