The Heat Exchanger 2 (Hx-02) Upgrades Project is a Design-Build project to install new heat exchanger systems to replace existing mechanical infrastructure in an existing enclosure, and install additional structural wall and roof systems to support increased radiation shielding.


Construction includes removal, demolition and new construction efforts to replace the existing Hx-02 system within an existing structure, with two new identical and separate cooling systems. This new scope of work involves new structural work and replacement of mechanical and electrical systems within the existing footprint of the current physical facilities. Sections of the existing structure and infrastructure systems will be reused as detailed.

The major elements of the Work include but are not limited to the following: Architectural/Structural; Mechanical; Electrical and Controls for the major demolition and re-construction of the existing Hx-02, which supplies LCW cooling water to the major Accelerator Electron Beamline Dumps (EBD) and Beam Switch Yard Dump (BSY).

•    RFP package anticipated to be released November 11,2019
•    Construction start anticipated for Jan-Feb 2020

• Has your company completed previous work at SLAC or another DOE Facility?  
• What similar projects is your company currently working on?  
• What projects has your company completed within the last calendar year?  
• Does your company have the ability to perform as a general contractor?  
• Does your company have engineering design capabilities in-house? If so, list the disciplines.  
• Does your company have in-house shop/off-site fabrication?  
• Provide a very high level overview of your QA/QC program for Design, Fabrication and Site Construction.  
• Provide a very high level overview of your ES&H program.  
• Provide your company's Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) for the last 3 years.  
• What is your bonding capacity?  
• Has your California Contractor's License been revoked within the past 5 years?  
• Has your company been debarred from any US Government projects in the last 5 years?  
• Does your company maintain a local presence in the SF Bay Area?
