The Rhode Island Foundation is accepting applications from artists and art educators for educational projects that integrate art into other core academic subjects.

Through the foundation's Arts in Academics program, grants ranging between $500 $1,000 will be awarded to projects that foster collaborations among artists and educators and promote the arts as an integral part of the learning process. Potential projects include but are not limited to collaborations between an artist and an educator, field trips, and teacher training opportunities. Grants are not intended to support performances where students are passive participants, and literacy projects are generally not funded unless they are exceptionally creative and include other core academic subjects.

Any K-12 public or charter school teacher, artist, or nonprofit organization is eligible to apply as long as the proposed project benefits public school children in Rhode Island. Grants may be used for stipends, materials, equipment, honorariums, and other costs associated with implementing the project.

See the Rhode Island Foundation website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.
