The Bar Councils existing main website www.barcouncil.org.uk - was launched in December 2000. For historical and other reasons the Council has two other sites as part of its web presence: www.legaleducation.co.uk which provides information about careers and other educational and training requirements for the Bar; and www.barcobenefits.com which is the website of our subsidiary company which provides services for the Bar. Since 2000, the main site has been updated and amended on a more-or-less continuous basis and use of the site has increased more than 3-fold. However, although there have been a number of significant changes to both structure and content over time, the Bar Council now wishes to undertake a comprehensive review of the site to ensure that it provides the best possible service to its users and makes use of more up-to-date technology and current thinking on website design and management.
The Bar Council is undertaking a tender exercise for the review and re-design. This document provides background information about the Bar Council, its requirements for the review/re-design and an outline of the tender process.
