The National Alliance of Respiratory Therapy Regulatory Bodies (NARTRB) is a not for profit organization whose members constitute those organizations in Canada responsible for the regulation of the profession of respiratory therapy. Member organizations include:
College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA)
College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO)
Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT)
Manitoba Association of Registered Respiratory Therapists (MARRT)
Ordre professionnel des inhalothrapeutes du Qubec (OPIQ)
Project Background
One of the objectives of the NARTRB is to consider the mechanisms to develop, promote and evaluate national standards for the regulation of the profession of Respiratory Therapy. The development of a common process for the recognition of foreign credentials, as well as a process to assess the entry-to-practice competence of all potential (foreign- and Canadian-trained) practitioners of Respiratory Therapy would be of interest to the Alliance.
The Alliance is currently seeking a research firm or consultant to conduct an investigation of issues related to the entry of foreign trained healthcare professionals into the profession of respiratory therapy in Canada, and gather diagnostic information related to the integration of foreign trained professionals into the field.
