Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC) invites qualified prospective offerors to submit a proposal to design and implement a study tour which will provide 25 participants from Pakistan the opportunity to observe and discuss the offering of the practicum in pre-service teacher education programs in the US or Canada. The two-week study tour will be part of USAID's Teacher Education Program in Pakistan (Pre-STEP) and will take place in the 2012 calendar year.
The visit will focus on planning for the practicum and developing linkages with practicum schools, the role of the cooperating teacher working with the student, and on mentoring and evaluating student teachers during the practicum. Participants will also look at the ways in which linkages between institutions are sustained and the resources required to implement a good quality practicum. Understanding appropriate evaluation and assessment systems for practicum programs will also be a component of this study tour.
