The U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center (NSRDEC), Natick, MA is conducting market research on the availability of dyed or colored Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibers. The U.S. Army is specifically interested in materials that are dyed to military relevant colors, particularly Tan 499 or Coyote 498. Dyed UHMWPE fibers are of interest for their increased strength and durability for utilization in the Operational Clothing and Individual equipment. Importantly, dyed PE fibers must retain a significant portion of their strength properties after dyeing or coloring to be of interest.

The government is interested in receiving:

1. Samples of dyed or colored UHMWPE fiber (of any denier), that match Tan 499 or Coyote 498
2. Samples of dyed or colored UHMWPE textile swatches ( of any denier) that match Tan 499 or Coyote 498
3. Any information on the current and emerging industrial methods for UHMWPE fiber coloring
For companies interested in submission, the Government can provide color swatches and hue parameters for color matching purposes. Please see contact information below to request color information.
