Description of the goods or services required
The Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) is the statutory body for pharmacists and pharmacies in Ireland. It acts in the public interest to regulate the profession. (See www.pharmaceuticalsociety.ie.)
The Pharmacy Acts governing the profession date back to 1875, with the most recent Act dating from 1962.
The PSI will undergo substantial change in the coming year with the introduction of a new Pharmacy Act. The PSI is developing its website and web applications to facilitate improved communication between the PSI, the public and the profession of pharmacy. The expanded web site will utilise web applications to facilitate certain transactions on line.
As a precursor to this development, the PSI wishes to redevelop its database of members, pre-registration members and pharmacies.
Therefore, the PSI invites suitably qualified companies to express their interest in providing:
a. Design, development and deployment of a database to replace the current PSI database of some 3,500 pharmacists and 1,450 pharmacies
b. Migration service to populate the redeveloped database
c. Staff training and ongoing technical support
Among the main requirements for the replacement database are:
- Proven software solution in similar deployments
- Hardware configuration that maximises reliability and value for money
- Secure and robust environment for PSI data into the future
- Facilitate the further development of web based systems and applications
- Scalable and extendable, as the PSI's requirements develop
The full project scope will be outlined in the Request for Tender documents which be issued to short-listed candidates following completion of a pre-qualification stage.
No further details of the project will be disclosed in advance of the Request for Tender document being issued.
