Regional Transportation Management Center (RTMC), Freeway Management System (FMS) and Telecommunications Infrastructure (TI) Projects

The City has issued an RFP to solicit competitive
technical and cost proposals from Proposers (also referred to herein as the Design-Build Firms) for the
design and deployment of:
A Regional Transportation Management Center (RTMC)
A Freeway Management System (FMS) to be deployed along Interstate 10 (I-10) from west of
State Road (S.R.) 10 (US-90 West) near mile marker 191 to east of S.R. 10 (US-90 East /
Mahan Drive) near mile marker 210 in both Leon and Gadsden Counties
The Telecommunications Infrastructure (TI) required for the FMS deployment and its
interconnection with the new RTMC
Throughout the RFP, the "System" shall refer to the combination of the RTMC, FMS and TI
components to be furnished and/or installed and integrated.
The primary project goal is two-fold: (1) implement a RTMC from which the Tallahassee region's
transportation network (both freeways and arterials) can be managed and (2) deploy a FMS along I-10
so that the public is provided with real-time information on current traffic conditions along I-10.
The operation of the System is expected to contribute regionally to a reduction in congestion due to
incidents, both planned (football games, local events, holidays, etc.) and unplanned (hurricane
evacuations, crashes, debris, etc.) through incident management activities aimed at mitigating
disruptions and improving traffic flow.
