8. Description:

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Memphis District is initiating a sources sought notice to gather market research to identify resources available for the reconditioning of BG 4918 gear box for the Memphis District bank grading unit. The Bank Grading Unit has two Bucyrus Erie Cranes. One of the cranes is the BG 4918. It was built in 1948 and it has been out of operation for over 10 years. The other crane is the BG 4919, built in 1949, and was upgraded in 2001. This contract is for the reconditioning of the BG 4918 gear box to use as a spare replacement for the BG 4919 gear box.


The Contractor shall perform the repair with new OEM parts or REMAN items with comparable warranty to new items and equipment to meet the specifications stated in the scope of work.


This is a Sources Sought Notice and is for INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. This IS NOT a REQUEST for PROPOSALS, QUOTATIONS, or BIDS. Responses to this request will not be returned. Not responding to this sources sought does not preclude participation in any future and potential solicitation. It is the intent of the Contracting Office to use this information for market research purposes only. The survey is being conducted to determine the interest of industry within NAICS code #811310, and establish that there are adequate Large and/or Small Business (HUBZONE 8(a) or Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business) contractors for providing the service needed to recondition the 4918 gear box for the bank grading unit. The Government WILL NOT pay for the provision of any information, nor will it compensate any respondents for the development of any such information. If a formal solicitation is released, it will be via the Federal Business Opportunities (http:www.fbo.gov).


Period of Performance:


The period of performance for this project is 30 calendar days from award date. All maintenance and repairs will be performed at awarded vendor's facility.


The scope of work includes:


• A complete recondition of BG 4918 gear box prior to use shall be supplied to the Memphis bank grading unit. The Contractor shall perform the repair with new OEM parts or REMAN items with comparable warranty to new items and equipment to meet the specifications stated in the scope of work.


Award for this upcoming solicitation will be made no later than April 30, 2019.
