The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is soliciting proposals from qualified nonprofit management entities to assume management of certain campuses identified as academically unacceptable (AU) under the criteria established in the state's accountability rating system. The Texas Legislature amended the Texas Education Code related to circumstances under which the Commissioner orders and/or is required to order alternative management or closure of a campus as a sanction for AU performance. House Bill 1 also required that the TEA solicit proposals from qualified nonprofit management entities to assume the alternative management of such a campus.
