UCLA requests a written response to this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the purpose of selecting an Executive Architect for the DENTISTRY 73006-52 ORAL CANCER RESEARCH CENTER (UCLA Project #945997.01). The project in the School of Dentistry (SOD) is a result of funds made available by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The project will consolidate and expand the school's ongoing translational research in the biology, detection and treatment of oral cancer.
The project is anticipated to involve design and construction of a renovation of approximately 6,660 square feet on the seventh floor of the existing UCLA School of Dentistry Building. Existing outmoded laboratories within the dental school building in UCLA's Center for the Health Sciences will be demolished to construct a new facility comprising a large, open wet laboratory, a central core support facility and a conference room. The new lab will include chemical fume hoods, tissue-culture support and a dark room and will be specifically designed for state-of-the-art genomics and proteomics research. The project is anticipated to have an estimated construction cost of approximately $3,000,000 including demolition and fixed equipment.
