The State of Nevada Purchasing Division, on behalf of the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners, is seeking proposals from providers who can provide assessment, assistance, treatment, monitoring, oversight, and reporting functions for licensees affected by substance abuse and other psychological issues. It is the States intent to award multiple two year contracts to selected vendors, with an option to extend for one an additional two (2) years upon mutual consent. Proposing vendors may be requested to appear for an interview with the Evaluation Committee August 31-September 4, 2009, as part of the evaluation process.
The Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners is the state agency that licenses physicians, physician assistants, respiratory therapists, and perfusionists. Some of its licensees have substance abuse issues (alcohol, prescription drugs, illicit drugs), narcissistic disorders, or other compulsive/obsessive behaviors that affect their ability to safely and professionally serve their patients. The program will include licensees who are referred by the Board as the result of disciplinary action or referral, and licensees who admit themselves to the program.
