Missouri State University is seeking qualified consultants to work with us for the development of a landscape master plan for the 195 acre Springfield main campus of Missouri State University. The campus is a valuable asset to the University and an important part of the Universitys heritage. The severe ice storm of January 2007 caused significant damage and destruction across southwest Missouri. The campus of Missouri State University was no exception. The storm has changed the face of campus. In the wake of this damage the University wishes to use the event as an opportunity to not only replace, but develop a landscape that will enhance the mission of the university.
In order to achieve this goal the University wishes to develop and employ a campus landscape master plan that provides a general direction for preserving and enhancing the campus landscape. The plan will primarily address the spaces between the buildings; dealing with the thoughtful development of elements such as providing the appropriate choice and placement of plant material; composition of walks, pathways, plazas. It is the University wishes to provide a safe, accessible, livable and sustainable environment that encourages social interaction and exchange of ideas, respects the historical perspective in the quest for knowledge, and creates a strong sense of place and identity, with a visual image that instills pride and supports and enhances the goals, mission and activities of the University.
