The Center for Integrated Health Science Education and Practice (CIHSEP) seeks to provide new ways of integrating education, research and practice, and to engage a variety of individuals in the Centers work. CIHSEP is inviting the submission of proposals from those with experience in health care delivery, education, research, science, health education and promotion, supportive sciences, science of learning and/or those with expertise in leading-edge science and its application to health care. The Center was recently awarded $1.225 million from the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities for fiscal year 2008 and is proposed to be awarded a similar amount for fiscal year 2009. The Center operates as a collaborative integrated network of professionals from education, the health care industry and the community. The Centers vision is to create an agile and innovative health care environment that transforms how health science education is practiced in the State of Minnesota. See profile on pages 8 and 9 that outlines the Centers mission, vision, and goals. In its second year, the Center has been energetic in its work, achieving many milestones to date (see page 7 for a list of milestones). Additionally, many positive outcomes have resulted from the FY 06 projects. The FY 07 projects are currently underway and will be complete by June 30, 2007. Outcomes will be released by fall 2007. A summary of those projects are available on our web site at www.winona.edu/21stcentury/CIHSEP.html. The Center wants to continue identifying new ideas and other professionals who may be interested in becoming engaged in the Centers creative work: innovative thinkers who have a passion for making a difference, are willing to work collaboratively, and are ready to engage in transformative activities to achieve the following Center goals and objectives: CIHSEP GOALS Create a collaborative model of engagement for health science education and practice. Enhance economic development through increased quality and sustainability of health care education, practice and innovation. Position Minnesota and the region as a leader in innovative solutions to healthcare workforce issues. CIHSEP OBJECTIVES Recruit and retain an expanded and more diverse student population. Increase the number of well-prepared graduates to enhance the current workforce. Recruit, develop and retain a diverse pool of practitioners who will deliver high quality, coordinated and competent care and define ways to assess the development of these qualities. Create innovative solutionscontinuously adaptive learning models that respond to industry challenges and are supported by applied health care research. One of the approaches the Center is promoting is a cross-organizational project team focused on work supporting the Centers goals and objectives. Individuals who have an idea, but do not have a complete team, including industry and higher education partners, or who have questions on their proposal, may contact: Sue Klaseus, Winona State University, Executive Director, CIHSEP at [email protected] or (507) 285-7122. She can further help to enhance your project and connect you with many networking possibilities.
