RFP for Mini Excavator

The Town is requesting proposals for the purchase of a used 2008 or newer mini excavator with less than seven hundred (700)hours of operation that meets the following specifications. Proposals marked excavator will be received until June 1, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. in the Selectmen's Office, 5 Town Hall Road, Ashford, CT. GENERAL: One (1) compact zero tail swing excavator with diesel engine, rubber tracks, backfill blade, backhoe with 360 degree swing and 140 degree independent boom swing. This unit must have a fully enclosed cab with heater, radio, a/c, windshield wiper and all standard equipment. ENGINE: 4-cylinder, water cooled, self-priming diesel engine developing 37.1 net horsepower @ 2,300 rpm and meets all EPA Tier 3 Compliance Standards. WEIGHT: Minimum of 11,500 lbs operating weight, no more than 13,000 lbs. BACKHOE: Quick hitch, no tool bucket system. Zero turning radius - the tail of the excavator will never be outside of the track during operation. BLADE: Minimum 77" wide backfill blade, hydraulic control. HYDRAULICS: This hydraulic system must consist of one (1) piston pump. Operating pressure must be 3,553 PSI minimum. Minimum flow 32.8 GPM. ADDITIONAL SPECIFICATIONS: Two (2) speed travel, lockable battery cover, boom work light with protective cover, valve, pilot operated controls, enclosed bucket hoses, lockable tool boxes, full vandal protection, A-F pattern change control. DELIVERY: forty-five (45) days from acceptance of proposal. WARRANTY: Warranty must be stated with option to purchase extensions of six (6) months, one (1) year or two (2) years. The successful bidder must have a factory trained service department within forty (40) miles of the Town of Ashford. All questions should be directed to the Selectmen's Office (860)487-4400.
