The Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) is seeking a public relations professional to provide leadership in the planning and execution of the Associations public relations efforts. The anticipated scope of work will include some or all of the following:

a. Work closely with the Public Relations and Outreach Division Head and the Executive Board in formulating a long-term public relations program.

b. Develop and maintain a contact and distribution list of radio, TV, and print media who are appropriate outlets for our press releases. Identify and establish relations with specific media outlets and persons who are especially interested in the psychological aspects of sport, exercise, and health.

c. Write press releases for dissemination to media. Members of AASP with expertise in specific content areas will provide relevant information or rough drafts. It is expected that the public relations professional will write/rewrite and proof read such releases in the proper format for media releases.

d. Disseminate press releases to the appropriate media contacts, and follow up to insure coverage and/or interviews with our member experts on specific topics.

e. Attend AASPs annual conference (usually in September or October) and arrange for media presence and contact. The program itself, as well as keynote speakers, can be used to generate media interest and exposure.

f. Conduct an intensive, practical workshop for AASP members at the annual conference aimed at increasing members skills in dealing with the media and in becoming effective spokespersons for AASP and for the field of sport psychology.
