RFP - Development of Third Hotel at McAllen Convention Center
The City of McAllen, Texas, is pleased to announce a significant development opportunity to
construct a 128+- room mid-upscale hotel, opening in early 2011. The hotel will be built on a
site adjacent to the following new, major demand generators:
o the McAllen Convention Center, opened March 22, 2007, to rave reviews
o the Simon Property Group‟s Palms Crossing, a 70 acre open-aired retail/restaurant center
fronting Expressway 83, first phase opened in Fall 2007,
o and the future McAllen Performing Arts Center.
The 168 acre total development is bounded on the south by Expressway 83, on the west by
Ware Road, and by 29th Street on the east. It is also six miles east of the Anzalduas
International Bridge to Reynosa, Mexico, currently under construction, which will re-route the
majority of Mexico/U.S. traffic to the west of Reynosa and then past the development.
