Information Technology Group [ITG], part of Oregon Health & Science University, is seeking information and ideas for a state-of-the-art business tool. The central purpose of the RFP is to provide a means of automating control of ITG data, telecommunications, and network assets through a vendor provided application suite that will automate all IT operations using a framework of best practice approaches in holistic IT governance intended to facilitate the strategic and tactical delivery of high quality IT services.

Therefore, the selected application suite should:
1)provide a way to interrelate all attributes of ITGs cable pathways, network and voice infrastructure;
2)allow customers to perform management functions, such as Installations, Moves, Adds, and Changes [IMACs] via a GUI interface and via a well-documented programmatic interface;
3)have the ability to generate ad hoc dynamic reports; and
4)monitor the network and maintain a history of all changes to it, with the ability to relate external events in time with changes.

The ideal solution would:
1)use an efficient Relational Database Management System [RDBMS] to capture and store every detail of ITGs physical data, fiber voice and network infrastructure;
2)dynamically monitor every detail of the infrastructure and log all changes;
3)allow manipulation of device configurations, such as turning on and off ports in switches and routers;
4)determine both logical and physical paths between any two given points in ITGs infrastructure;
5)offer potential integration options with other commercial and in-house systems; and
6)be Information Technology Infrastructure Library [ITIL] compliant.
