The Department of Environmental Health and Safety (DEHS) - Radiation Protection Division (RPD) is currently utilizing a custom developed database application for controlling all aspects of the radioactive material usage at the University of MN. The application is written in Oracle Version 8, and provides:

Internal permitting for the use and storage of radioactive material
Track and report on audit/inspections, contamination assessments (surveys), inventory management and training programs
Review orders for compliance, ensure lab is permitted to use the isotope they are ordering.
Purchase and distribute radioactive material based on order submitted,
Invoice preparation and billing for radioactive material purchases

The long term overall goal for RPD is to identify and implement an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) application which will provide full support for our Radiation Protection Division activities while providing a compliant and risk free operational environment.

The solution desired will be required to support all aspects of the life cycle of radioactive material at the University.
