RFI Solar Technology at MDC
The County Purchasing Department is seeking information from qualified companies or individuals interested in assisting the County in implementing a Solar Powered Farm Enterprise on
ten to fifteen acres at the County Metropolitan Detention Center by donating or creating an energy partnership. The Farm Enterprise may raise basic vegetables, starter trees, starter shrubs, tilapia, and possibly some animals. The purpose of implementing the Farm Enterprise is intended to prepare the inmates at the MDC to reenter society with practical work skills and values, as well as to provide a means by which to reduce some of the costs associated with feeding the inmates at the MDC. The farm would also aim to be environmentally friendly through the effective practice of water conservation, the reuse of waste, and the effective use of green technologies.
