The Commission is desirous of structuring its thoroughbred breed development program to meet the dual goals of (1) providing a significant economic benefit to the State of Indiana and (2) producing high quality race horses.
Indiana’s first Racino opened in June of 2008. Presently, the slot machine operations at Hoosier Park and Indiana Downs collectively contribute approximately 15 million dollars to the tracks’ general thoroughbred purse fund and 12 million dollars to the thoroughbred breed development fund.
The Commission is seeking expertise in the area of horse racing and the economic analysis of horse racing.
