The Assocation member retailers and team dealers currently utilize a wide variety of software solutions for their businesses. Some are Windows based, while others operate on platforms such as Unix. Some are housed on site, while others may be cloud based.
Some systems integrate the accounting functions along with the operational features of the business, while others migrate accounting numbers into a separate software package, such as QuickBooks.
Most of the retailers involved in this process are in the small-to-medium size, based on the number of storefronts. Team dealers conduct the majority of their business through the team/institutional channel, and some may have no retail stores at all.
Once the proposals are received at NSGA headquarters, staff will evaluate them based on how they meet the criteria listed below. The field will be narrowed to three-to-five companies, after which a committee of NSGA member retailers and team dealers will view online demonstrations of each software solution.
The committee will then decide which solution it will recommend to the members as best-meeting the member-established criteria.
It is possible that NSGA will conduct a group purchase on behalf of its members, or it may serve as facilitator to bring members together with the recommended software vendor.
With NSGA purchasing the solution to re-sell to its members being an option, it is necessary for the winning vendor(s) to provide a cost breakdown based on an estimated 20 companies and to grant authority to NSGA to re-sell the solution to its members.
