REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL FOR WASHINGTON, D.C. REPRESENTATIVE
The DC representative will provide strategic counseling and issues monitoring and management
on behalf of the the Commission in the following areas:
Environmental Issues Work with federal legislative offices and agencies and respond to
proposals and/or issues:
Which impact the registration and/or issuance of emergency exemptions of potato crop
protection chemicals;
Relating to the Endangered Species Act, especially as they pertain to the ability of
Washington State potato farmers to irrigate and grow their potatoes in an economically
viable and reasonable manner;
Involving water quantity and quality issues relating to the Clean Water Act, especially as
they pertain to the ability of potato growers to irrigate and produce their potatoes in an
economically viable and reasonable manner;
Concerning the measurement or control of instream flows, which would impact
Washington State potato farmers ability to adequately irrigate and grow their potatoes;
Relating to water quality and quantity which impact the registration and use of crop
protection chemicals and fertilizers, including the issuance of NPDES water discharge
permits for pesticide use;
Work with federal legislative offices to secure appropriations to improve irrigation water
delivery systems and storage.
