The following Sources Sought is provided to assist the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAVAIR) Lakehurst, NJ as a market research tool pursuant to FAR Part 10 to determine industry potentials that possess the expertise, capabilities, experience, facilities, and their business size for the Ammunition Magazine Loader Box (P/N 3141AS798-2; NSN 4925-01-547-5718). This item is used in support of the F/A-18 Aircraft. This item connects to the Aircrafts Gun System interface to load and download live or dummy ammunition and download unfired rounds or empty cases.


The prospective contract will be for the manufacture according to USN drawing package, test, and delivery of P/N 3141AS798-2.


The Ammunition Magazine Loader Box shall comply with the following Specifications and Standards:

- USN Export Controlled Drawing Package

- DOD Manual 4140.01.65 Compliance for Defense Packaging: Phytosanitary Requirements for Wood Packaging Material

- MIL-STD-129 Military Marking for Shipment and Storage

- MIL-STD-130M DoD Standard Practice Identification Markings of U.S. 
                Military Property

- MIL-STD-2073-1 Military Preservation and Packing


To manufacture this complex Ammunition Loader, interested vendors need to have processes set up to do machining, metal fabrication, special welding, assembly and the capability to design and manufacture jigs and fixtures to assist in alignment during the manufacturing process. The fabrication of many of the components requires specialized jigs and fixtures.


Once the solicitation is released, the Government will provide the drawing package. This effort includes technical data that are subject to Export Control Laws. In order to receive the technical data, a certified copy of the DD form 2345, Military Critical Technical Data Agreement will need to be submitted with your request. No promise of a contract award is implied and contractors are not being asked to submit cost proposals. Please note that the Government will NOT be responsible for any costs incurred by interested parties responding to this Request for Information (RFI). THIS IS A RFI ONLY. This notice requests capabilities information that illustrates sources that can successfully perform this anticipated effort, either directly or through teaming arrangements. Direction to company websites and vague statements of capability are not encouraged. All information sent should reference this RFI number on the subject response line of the emailed response as well as on the enclosed documents. Responses must include the company name, address, point of contact name and email/phone, and company size. Proprietary data MUST be marked on a page-by-page basis and will be kept confidential and protected where so designated. Not responding to this RFI does not preclude participatio0n in any future Request for Proposal. Any comments provided may or may not be included in a formal solicitation. Respondents may provide information and Rough Orders of Magnitude (ROM) on any currently available product or a company's capabilities that will meet the Navy's requirements. It is desired that the interested firm possess the following approvals, certification, and/or capabilities: Be SAE AS9100, AS9102, and AS9103 certified as well as ISO 9001-2000 or ANSU/ASQC Q9001.
