1EA QMC Instruments QNbB/PTC Cryogen-free THz Bolometer System
Wide band THz detector based on Superconducting Niobium Transition-Edge Sensor Bolometer, Type QNbB/X, with read-out electronics package, with cryogen-free pulse tube type cryocooler with compressor and gas lines, having the following system specifications.
* Detector Optical NEP: < 3pW.Hz-1/2 (275 GHz @ 80 Hz modulation.)
* Signal modulation range: 10 Hz to 1 kHz (less than double the minimum NEP)
* Operating Impedance: ~100 Ohms
* Rise time (-3dB): 200 µsec (approximately 1 kHz)
* Optical coupling: f/4 Winston cone @ 3 mm maximum diameter
* Linear dynamic range: > 60 dB
* Vacuum window and filters
** Vacuum window: CVD diamond
** System Spectral Range: 90GHz to 60 THz (3mm to 5 um wavelength.)
* Cryocooler
** Thermal stabilization time: 30 min.
** Remote motor option, installed on top of the cryostat
** Flexible gas lines: Qty. of 2, 10 m long ea.
* Readout Electronics
** Linear Dynamic Range with TES Bolometer: 70 dB
** Insensitive to magnetic fields
** Dual signal outputs
*** DC Output (for >1kOhm load)
*** AC Output with additional gain (for >1kOhm load)
* Testing
** Testing includes time to allow a BNL representative to witness tests performed at the manufacturer's facility.
