The Communications & Governmental Affairs Department will rely on the selected public affairs and communications Service Provider to contribute to the achievement of the above-mentioned goals. The anticipated services provided will be primarily in the area of issue education and awareness; and public outreach in support of District projects, initiatives and issues. Current examples of these are:
Major real estate redevelopment efforts including the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan, Chula Vista Bayfront Master Plan, Lane Field and cruise facilities on the B Street and Broadway piers;
Maritime and goods movement initiatives including future reconfiguration and redevelopment of cargo facilities at the two maritime cargo terminals as well as planning of improvements in access to the terminals by truck and rail;
Key new environmental initiatives including the Clean Air Plan and Environmental Sustainability Plan as well as ongoing activities and issues such as stormwater pollution prevention, species conservation and mitigation of existing contamination.
To support the District in these activities, the Service Provider would work with staff to perform a variety of tasks including identifying stakeholders, strategizing and developing plans for effectively communicating with them and capturing their input, and implementing those plans through public meetings, outreach to elected officials, electronic and print communication tools and any other viable methods that are identified.
