Professional Engineering Services for Dale Mabry Advanced Waste Water Treatment Plant (AWWTP) Headworks Rehabilitation

The Dale Mabry Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant (AWWTP), owned and operated by Hillsborough
County Public Utilities Department (Water Resource Division), is a race track type oxidation ditch activated
sludge treatment plant that has a design flow of 6.0 mgd. (see attached aerial photo). The plant headworks
was originally constructed in 1977 with a single grit chamber. In 1982, a second grit chamber was added and
adjacent conditioning tank was constructed. During the service life of the headworks and the conditioning
tank, the concrete has deteriorated through aging, oxidation, chemical attack and abrasion.
The initial phase of the refurbishment project would be to conduct a complete structural assessment of the
headworks and the conditioning tank and to produce a structural assessment report. McKim & Creed has
already made a structural assessment of the grit chamber area and this assessment report is included as
Attachment A.
