Preservation and Redevelopment of Governors Island
GIPEC is issuing this Request for Proposals (RFP) in order to solicit and select exceptional
development proposals (Proposals) from highly motivated and qualified individuals, teams,
corporations, and/or organizations, for the Governors Island Land Use Improvement and Civic
Project ( the Project). GIPEC is seeking developers, operators, and tenants (collectively
Respondents or Respondent Teams) who appreciate the uniqueness and importance of
Governors Island, have experience taking development ideas from concept to completion and/or
have for‐profit or not‐for profit businesses looking to conduct operations on the Island, and,
perhaps most importantly, have the vision to reconnect the Island to the broader New York
community.
