The department has also expressed the need to upgrade lighting, electrical systems, plumbing, and HVAC systems, and has requested that their space be studied to determine configurations that best meet their changing program needs. The study shall include, but not be limited to, review of the following: existing HVAC systems and relocation of existing 1st Floor air handling units, possible ventilation of the 3rd Floor, creation of plumbing chases behind existing bathroom plumbing walls, the lack of natural light in circulation and waiting spaces, and the reconfiguration of workforce and space currently occupied. The Bureau is currently involved in designing the conversion from steam to hot water.
