Phase I Environmental Site Assessment

The City of Gastonia is seeking proposals from qualified environmental consultant firms and/or individuals to conduct a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA). The purpose of the Phase I ESA is to evaluate potential soil, groundwater, and soil vapor contamination associated with the site. Funding for this activity will be through the use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The project study area is a commercial building located at 720 N. York Street, Gastonia, NC 28052, and listed as parcel identification number 104255 in Gaston County Tax Records. The building has been confirmed to contain hazardous construction component(s); asbestos. With age and progressive deterioration, the roof has collapsed rendering the structure unsafe to enter.
