Pharmacy Drug Program
The Fund was created as a means of providing workers compensation insurance to State Agencies, subdivisions of the State, and other governmental agencies and groups that elect to purchase coverage from the Fund. In FY 08-09, the Fund insured over 670 government agencies.
The Fund maintains approximately 3500 open claim files of which 2100 are lost time and 1400 are medical only in nature. The Fund expects to open approximately 5700 new claim files in FY 09/10. The Fund currently writes approximately ninety million ($90,000,000) dollars in annual premium with the expectation for continued growth in FY 09/10.
The Fund utilizes Taliant Softwares PowerComp electronic claims management system and supplements this system with a document imaging software system. Paper files are not maintained. All claim handling activities are concentrated in the Columbia, South Carolina office. The tasks that follow describe The Fund's current managed prescription drug program and are the minimum requirements of the contractor.
