The contractor is responsible for performing remediation of all equipment contaminated with perchloric salts to be demolished and/or removed from the site. Testing has indicated that fume hoods, exhaust systems, and all associated ductwork are contaminated with the presence of perchloric salts. The remediation procedure for the existing perchloric acid fume hoods, cabinets, and associated ductwork, as called for in the documents, must be completed before any removal or replacement of the perchloric acid fume hoods commences. Dispose of all removed equipment and appurtenances shall be according to state and local codes.
The contractor shall provide a complete new perchloric acid fume vent hood system as scheduled. The new system includes three vent hoods with fume scrubbers, three rooftop perchloric acid laboratory exhaust fans, three exhaust stacks with washdown, all associated ductwork, and all other necessary appurtenances, connections for power, domestic water, gas service, compressed air, and vacuum lines provided by the contractor.
