The pedestrian bridge (30 feet wide and 440 feet long) will be constructed over the new, semi-depressed section of 10-lane interstate highway and the BN&SF Railroad, on the south edge of downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The City is seeking a design that is iconic in its presentation to both freeway and bridge users. The bridge is a pivotal element in the City's efforts to provide a strong pedestrian connection between the downtown core and the Oklahoma River (see Core to Shore Plan at www.okc.gov).
Firms selected for further consideration (finalists) will be requested to produce a conceptual bridge design along with a model of the design. The City will contract with each finalist providing a stipend of $10,000 for the design work. Finalists will have sixty (60) days to complete concept designs, after which they will be required to present their concept designs to the Selection Committee. The Selection Committee will recommend a firm to City Council for a contract.
