Peace Corps (PC) seeks candidates highly experienced in the provision of supportive care with the ability to travel on extended assignments as a Personal Services Contractor (PSC) to support posts in the Europe, Mediterranean, and Asia (EMA) Region. The Social Worker (SW) will work in the Peace Corps office in Yerevan, Armenia to provide supportive counseling to Peace Corps Trainees and Volunteers in collaboration with Peace Corps Medical Officers (PCMOs), consultants, and the Office of Health Services (OHS) and promote mental health by providing health information and training to Trainees, Volunteers and the Peace Corps staff who support them throughout their service in as many as three countries.

The Social Worker role provides assessment of emotional well-being and will promote a safe and therapeutic environment through complying with the Quality Improvement program (QI) and acquire critical new knowledge and technologies to the practice domain. He or she accepts the responsibility for knowing the legal, ethical, and professional parameters of practice, maintains those boundaries and acknowledges when a decision or action has been made in the best interest of the Volunteer while taking correlative action in the Volunteer's behalf.

Working Conditions:
Flexible work schedule and frequent travel within country and to other Posts as determined by EMA Senior Management. This position requires travel approximately 30% of the time on overseas assignments to support a post's counselling and training needs, and therefore requires extreme flexibility and adaptability.


The anticipated Personal Services Contract (PSC) will be for a one-year period with up to one (1) option year, exercisable based on satisfactory performance, availability of funds, and continued need. The work schedule will be full-time.


Compensation and Benefits:
Pre-tax compensation will be negotiated within the appropriate range for the position at the discretion of the Peace Corps Contracting Officer. Items of consideration may include salary history and experience. Benefits will be offered for this position in accordance with guidance provided by Peace Corps' Office of Acquisition and Contract Management. Relocation costs will not be covered by Peace Corps. Contractors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration before being awarded a Federal Government contract. Registration can be completed at: https://www.sam.gov.


Required Qualifications:
* United States Citizenship.
* A valid, current, active license to practice as a social worker in one of the 50 states of the United States of America. It is the responsibility of the Social Worker to maintain a current valid license to practice in one of the 50 United States of America at all times during the performance period of the contract.
* Experience providing counselling services in an overseas, international development context.
* Experience developing and leading training on relevant mental health topics.
* Experience supporting a multicultural team in an overseas environment.
* Ability to work with confidential situations in a professional manner.
* Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English.
* A background security investigation will be required. The contract award will be subject to the contractor's successful completion of a background security investigation.
* Ability to receive worldwide medical clearance. The contract award will be subject to the contractor receiving adequate medical evaluation and clearance for overseas assignments worldwide.

Desired Qualifications:
* Previous experience with Peace Corps or another international volunteer organization preferred.
* Familiarity with Peace Corps policies and procedures preferred.
