Passive Surface Acoustic Wave Detector
The Virginia Contracting Activity (VACA) has a requirement for unpowered detection of the presence of chemical or radiological materials through the use of a wireless passive surface acoustic wave (pSAW) device. Complete pSAW detection systems will include bare pSAW chips mounted on a substrate which would allow for coatings applications with an integral radio frequency (RF) antenna, the associated RF interrogator with antenna, and a computer hardwired to the RF interrogator for command and control and data collection.
